Pink Sunset at Burrum Heads Queensland 17 August 2010

The sunset on the 17 August was pink like you have never seen.

The waters reflected rolls of pink that went into deep shades of pinks and purples.

It was amazingly beautiful.

The world was swathed in pink like being swaddled in pink layers of film.

Just near the Boat Ramp, the turtle came to see who was there.
Roz was there with her camera and she caught these awesome photos..

There was never a night or a problem that could defeat sunrise or hope.

Rocks..Where the turtle lives at Burrum Heads

At low tide on the 16th Feb, the rocky ledge was exposed, and I went to see the turtle who lives there.

He was there, but he played a game with me.
I could not get a photo of him this time, but I walked the 3 markers before turning back because of the dark clouds and imminent rain.

The tide was very low and it was very beautiful...a world of grey

The tide is just changing from a very low tide (1.18 11 Feb)

The sands are golden, the breaking waves are white.
Behind the waves the murky storm waters, and riding in fast and furious is the blue water from the sea.

The tide was coming in.
You can see the clear blue water in the middle of the channel.
Closer to shore is the murky dark water from the rivers.

There are not many fish around at present because of the fresh water in the river. The rains have made the beautiful blue waters a dark murky color.
Here you can see the waters coming in with the changing of the tide.
Fishermen hopefully wait hoping the salt water will bring in some fish for feeding.

Beach After the Storm on 3 Feb

The beach along Burrum River is now strewn with debris and littered with grass and trees after the huge storms that ravaged this area from Cyclone Olga.
It is still raining heavily outside

The bank is now leveled and the sand has be washed in as far as the creek and the parking area behind where I am now standing.

The young trees still stand straight and tall around the memorial guarding it.

Tide Going Out

The Tide comes in twice a day.
This is the tide starting to recede.

When the tide goes out there is no water here, just stretches of rippled sand dotted generously with sand crab droppings.

In the evening...I walked back after viewing the Stump.
It was a beautiful evening.

Parasailing at Burrum Heads

Two parasails took advantage of the wind to enjoy the waters at Burrum River.

They were standing on the waters edge.
I took some photos, then they took off just as I clicked this shot.

I thought I was very lucky to see their beautiful and strong wings at the point of take off.

 

German Pointers on the beach

Two beautiful and elegant German Pointers were being walked along the sand.
The owner told me they were both old dogs, but they are still beautiful.

They reminded me of Maida, my favorite doberman, which is why I asked the owner about them.
She had style and elegance too, and excellent breeding.

German Shorthaired Pointers were developed in Germany as a multi-purpose gun dog, to replace the need for both a pointer and a retriever. Pointer refers to the stance a dog takes when it finds game and then strikes a rigid pose to indicate to its handler that there is game ahead.
