Burrum Heads is a place for fishing...
I love this trawler and would love to own one like it...

This is what I would love to live on
Burrum Heads
On the southern head of the Burrum River is a small tourist town with a range of facilities including hotel, two caravan parks, full range of shops and boat hire. The town has two boat ramps, although parking is a little restricted. The Burrum River and its tributaries, The Gregory, Isis and Cherwell Rivers offer many kilometres of fishy water. The river here often turns up jacks, barramundi and threadfin salmon for anglers willing to put in the time. Javelin fish, trevally, queenfish, estuary cod, tailor, flathead, bream and whiting can also be taken in and around the river mouth.
Outside of Burrum Heads you'll find the Eight Mile Reef where mackerel and trevally are always a chance. This is actually quite a good fishing spot with black and yellow kings turning up quite frequently.
In the '60s and '70s this reef was a snapper hotspot, but its reputation in this regard has decline over the years. However at the right time of the year you can still catch a feed of squire, but rarely a larger fish is boated.
I saw a 10kg snapper caught just after winter '93. Generally though despite its decline from earlier years I still think Eight Mile is still one of the best spots to hit when you are in the area.
